One person was killed in a car accident on Aucoot Road in Mattapoisett on April 6.

Police responded to the accident approximately a quarter mile before the Harbor Beach entrance just after 8 p.m. The victim was named as James Bardsley, 45, of 14 Harbor Road, Mattapoisett.

Officers found that the vehicle had traveled on Aucoot Road, crashed into a telephone pole and continued into the woods. Responders determined that Bardsley, the only person in the vehicle, had died.

Power in the Aucoot/Hollywood’s Road area was out for several hours due to the downed pole.

The Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and the Mattapoisett Fire Department also responded to the scene.
