Margaret M. (Roderick) Pires, 92, of Middleboro, formerly of Marion died March 31, 2018 in the Nemasket Healthcare Center in Middleboro. She was the daughter of the late Zachary and Mary (Rose) Roderick.

She was born in Falmouth and lived in Marion for many years. She graduated from New Bedford High School.

Mrs. Pires worked as a nurse’s aide at Tobey Hospital in Wareham for many years before retiring.

She was phenomenal at knitting. Whether it was a birthday, Christmas, a new baby or just because, Margaret was always knitting! She could make anything and was very talented. She knitted sweaters, scarves, bags, and hats amongst many other items. They were always made with love and had her personal “With Love from Grammy” clothing tag.

Survivors include her daughter, Lori A. Pires Cummings and her husband Richard of Brockton; her daughter-in- law, Marylou Amado Pires of Marion; her sister, Julieanne Gomes of New Bedford; 2 granddaughters, Ashley A. Cummings and her fiancé, Sean Cort of NY, NY and Jalen A. Pires of Atlanta, GA; and her best friend, Jane Luizzi of Sandwich. She was the mother of the late Richard W. Pires; grandmother of the late Andrew W. Cummings and sister of the late Charles Roderick, Horace Roderick, Mildred Howell, and Robert Rose.

Her services were private.
