Marion ArtWeek program awarded 'Music Drives Us' grant

Apr 25, 2018

Hugh Hanley's Circle of Songs was one of ten ArtWeek programs throughout the state to receive $500 in grant funding from Music Drives Us.

MusicDrivesUs.org is a New England nonprofit organization that supplies grants to music programs that are designed to effect positive change for people of all ages.

Hanley will present the Circle of Songs, intended for toddlers and preschool-aged children, during ArtWeek at the MAC on Saturday, April 28, from 3 to 4 p.m.

Songs, stories, finger plays and other musical activities will ensue.

Hanley "will have his guitar and banjo to lead us in some favorite children's songs, and we'll learn lots of great hands-on music/play activities," MAC organizers noted. The event is "wonderful interactive fun for the whole family."

Hanley is an early-childhood educator and family entertainer who specializes in music/play programs for young children and the adults who sing with them. From his home in Arlington, Massachusetts, Hanley makes frequent visits to schools, libraries, and concert venues, and also tours nationally. He is the producer and host of "Songs from the Circle," which airs on community access cable stations.

Admission is free, but registration is required. Visit www.marionartcenter.org/artweek to sign up.
