The victim who was killed in a May 20 house fire in Rochester has been identified as Richard Cutcliffe, 62.

The Plymouth County District Attorney's office confirmed Cutcliffe's identity on May 21.

Cutcliffe was reportedly found unconscious on the first floor of the house by responders, and taken to Tobey Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Another victim, reportedly Cutcliffe's sister was able to escape the blaze, and was taken to Tobey Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A dog was also found dead inside the house as firefighters from Marion, Rochester and several surrounding towns battled the blaze.

The State Fire Marshal's office states that at this time, the cause of the fire appears to have been accidental.

Rochester's Council on Aging is collecting donations for the surviving fire victim, and is planning a fundraiser in the future. The Council is seeking relief items including money, size XL ladies' clothing, towels, blankets, sheets and gift cards. Items can be dropped off at the Rochester Council on Aging, 67 Dexter Lane.
