Mattapoisett police arrested a Rochester man on June 2, after chasing him through Mattapoisett, Marion and Rochester.

Police pulled over a Jeep Cherokee driven by Kalvin Ferreira, 22, of Rochester for violations on Marion Road at 2:28 a.m. Officers quickly realized that the license plate didn't belong to the vehicle to which it was attached.

Once into Rochester, the vehicle proceeded into the area of the power lines off Walnut Plain Road, police said. It was located a short time later, unoccupied.

A search of the area located Ferreira, who was arrested by the Mattapoisett Police and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol (a second offense), failure to stop for a police officer, operating with a suspended license, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, and a violation regarding the license plate.

The Mattapoisett Police Department was assisted by by the Marion and Rochester police departments in the chase, as well as the Mass. Environmental Police and a Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department K9.
