Mattapoisett Congregational Church announces scholarship winners

Jun 4, 2018

Two Old Rochester Regional High School graduating seniors are the recipients of scholarships from the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.

Candace "Lee" Heald of the church announced in May that grads Megan Field and Freemin Bauer would receive the funds.

The daughter of Bob and Kim Field of Mattapoisett, Field will receive the Dagmar Coquillette Memorial Scholarship. She wrote an essay about a "life-changing" mission trip to the Appalachian Mountains in Georgia that she took with 20 other members of the church. The group brought food, books, and games to Guatemalan immigrants in need. Field will attend UMass Amherst.

Bauer, the son of Michael and Jodi Bauer, was recognized for his many public service and volunteer projects. He completed repairs at Fairhaven's dog shelter as he worked to obtain his Eagle Scout designation. To raise money for the project, he created the Mattapoisett Dog Walk-a-thon event. He has also assisted the Town of Mattapoisett in shellfish propagation, volunteered at the Women's Club Taste of the Town event, and assisted the Lion's Club in Sunday breakfasts. He will attend Bristol Community College.
