Annual Town Party slated for Aug. 25

Jul 10, 2018

The annual Marion Town Party will be held on Saturday, Aug.  25, on the grounds of the Marion Town House, 2 Spring St. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 26.

Th family-friendly celebration will offer free inflatable fun for the kids, a rock climbing wall, music and dancing, and a bonfire. Food and beverages will be available for sale.

Once again, organizers seek corporate sponsors. Varying levels of sponsorship are available. Also, the organizing committee is selling advertising space in the Town Party booklet.  Advertising in the booklet helps defray costs for the event and offers a great opportunity for local businesses to get the word out about their businesses, organizers said.

“Donations from the community are needed to help underwrite the event,” Chris Berg, an organizer of the event, said. “Food, services, cash or any other in-kind donation would be greatly appreciated.” All contributions are tax deductible. People are encouraged to “like” the Marion Town Party Facebook page.

All proceeds from the Town Party will benefit local community needs, as well as the Bird Island Lighthouse Fund. “Next year will mark the Bird Island Lighthouse Bicentennial, so we are looking forward to kicking off the celebration a little early at the Annual Town Party,” Berg said.
