Marion Concert Band plan 'Young People's Concert'

The Marion Concert Band continues its Friday evening concert series with a "Young People's Concert" beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 27.

The concert is under the direction of Tobias Monte and will include a euphonium solo by Monte as well as an opportunity for children in the audience to play rhythm instruments with the band and "guest conduct" the band.

Monte has performed with the Massachusetts All-State Band, the UMass Dartmouth Wind Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra, the Tri-County Symphonic Band, and the New Bedford Symphony Youth Orchestra.  He has been a member of the Marion Concert Band since 2011.

The July 27 program is as follows: Children's March by E. F. Goldman,  Looney Tunes Overture by B. Holcombe, A Disney Spectacular arranged by J. Moss, Porceau Symphonique by A. Guilmant,  Pixar Movie Magic arranged by M. Brown,  The Waltzing Cat by L. Anderson,  Journey to the Lion's Castle by R. Galante. and Shrek Dance Party arranged by P. Murtha.

The concert will be performed at the Robert O. Broomhead Bandstand on Island Wharf off Front Street. All concerts are free and open to the public.
