Marion Town Party set for Aug. 25

Jul 31, 2018

The annual Marion Town Party will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, on the grounds of the Marion Town House, 2 Spring Street. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 26.

New to the town party this year will be "Touch a Truck." From 3 to 5 p.m., the Marion Police, Fire Department, harbormaster and more will have vehicles on hand for kids to climb on. The vehicles will be lined up on the ballfield behind the Town House.

All proceeds from the party will benefit local community needs, as well as the Bird Island Lighthouse Fund. Next year marks the 200th anniversary of  the lighthouse.

There will be inflatable fun for the kids, a  rock climbing wall, face painting by Handi Mandi, music with a DJ-Night Flight Music and a couple of hours of live music by Shaun England Music. There will also be a bonfire. There will be food and beverages for sale.

Once again organizers are seeking corporate sponsors and selling advertising space in the Town Party booklet.

Donations from the community are needed to help underwrite the event. Food, services, cash or any other in-kind donation would be greatly appreciated. All contributions are tax deductible. Please “Like” the Marion Town Party Facebook page.
