Sidewalk and wheelchair construction is slated to begin Aug. 15 along a stretch of Route 6 and could continue for six weeks.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation recently notified the Board of Selectmen that sidewalk and ramp construction would happen from 458 Mill St. (Route 6) to 113 Main St. During that time, traffic will sometimes be reduced to one lane.

Once work begins, it will take approximately six weeks to complete, MassDOT Highway Division Project Manager Jaime Antonio said in paperwork filed with the town.

Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The construction is being done by LAL Construction.
