Exploring nature in Mattapoisett

The Nature Explorer group, run by Marion Natural History Museum staff through MattRec, spent the week of July 30 exploring Mattapoisett's open spaces.
Along with crabbing, netting fish, building cairns, discovering types of sea weeds and salt marsh vegetation, and plenty of swimming, the group met Coast Guard Fairhaven and Marion Flotilla members for a tour of Ned's Point lighthouse.
Participants learned about oyster farming with Bob Field and enjoyed a final day wrap-up boat tour of the harbor courtesy of the Mattapoisett harbormaster's office.
