MATTAPOISETT — Brian Vose, owner of Pandolfi’s Mattapoisett Diner, appeared before the Mattapoisett Board of Selectmen on Tuesday, July 9 for two new licenses to help his business to the next level.

Vose applied for an Entertainment License and an All Alcohol On-Premise License for the diner. He told the board that he intends to have margarita nights, paint nights, and car cruises at the restaurant to attract more business.

Vose said that diners are a dying breed, and that he will need to adapt to move forward. The diner is currently open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily and stays open for dinner until 8 p.m. on Fridays. Vose said that by having alcohol and entertainment he could attract more clientele by staying open more nights each week. He also said that he employs a young staff that has been pushing him for more hours. He assured the board that he does not intend to give the diner a bar atmosphere.

The board voted to approve the entertainment license, but continued the hearing to their next meeting on Tuesday, August 13 to further discuss the application for the alcohol license. Selectman Jordan Collyer expressed that he had no issue with Vose’s application, but Selectman Paul Silva said he was unconvinced that the license was truly necessary for the business. Selectman Tyler Macallister was not present to place a tie-breaking vote.
