MATTAPOISETT — Freezing for a Reason will host a polar plunge on New Year’s Day at noon at Mattapoisett Town Beach. 

Funds raised at the event will go to help families that are struggling with the hidden costs of cancer care. 

The plunge will have a heated tent, bonfire, bake sale, hot cocoa and coffee available.
