MARION — The Marion Art Center will offer a second session of its one-day workshop, Visible Mending with Sashiko with Instructor Crickett Warner, on Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The workshop will teach participants to repair clothing with Sashiko, a traditional Japanese mending technique. The technique dates back to the 16th century, when peasants repaired worn-out clothes with layering and scraps to strengthen the garment.

Students will use thread and needles made specifically for Sashiko, and will likely be able to complete one patch during the workshop. Patterns and instructions will be provided.

While denim jeans will be available to practice on, students are encouraged to bring their own (with or without holes).

The workshop costs $60 for MAC members and $65 for non-members, plus a $10 materials fee. Registration is open online at marionartcenter.org/adult-classes.
