Straus to speak on MBTA at Globe summit

Sep 12, 2022

Tenth Bristol Representative William Straus (D-Mattapoisett), Chair of the Joint Committee on Transportation, announced that he has accepted an invitation from the Boston Globe to join more than 60 industry leaders and policy experts who will speak at this year’s Globe Summit Conference, which will focus on “The Next Boston.”

Straus will be part of a panel that will discuss the current state of the MBTA and the future of transit in Massachusetts.

The appearance, which will take place on Sept.16 at 3 p.m., will follow the transportation committee’s second oversight hearing into safety failures at the MBTA scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 14.

“I’m happy to speak at any forum that sheds light and brings attention to the mobility issues we face today, and that certainly includes any discussion of the MBTA’s struggles,” said Straus.

The event will again be livestreamed after last year’s conference attracted more than 14,000 virtual attendees.
