Old Rochester Regional School District celebrates school resource officers
MATTAPOISETT — The Old Rochester Regional School District is recognizing its in-house police officers on this year’s National Student Resource Officer Day.
Student Resource Officers Adalberto "Junior" Cardoso Jr. and Lenira Lima patrol the halls of Old Rochester Regional High School and Junior High School and help to bridge the gap between the Mattapoisett police department and the school district.
A Student Resource Officer is a full-time law enforcement officer that is trained in school-based, community-oriented policing.
"SROs Cardoso and Lima are both instrumental members of the Old Rochester Regional School District and provide invaluable service to the students, parents and staff members they work with," said Nelson.
"I would also like to recognize Mattapoisett Police Officer Ross Lacasse who supports and assists our SROs. We are fortunate to have a great working relationship with the Mattapoisett Police Department, which allows for the SRO program in our junior and senior high schools to continue to thrive."
