Mattapoisett Fire Department responds to vehicle fire
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Park Lane on Tuesday, May 30.
According to a Mattapoisett Fire Department Facebook post, Chief 1, Engine 1 and Engine arrived on scene and reported a “fully involved” truck fire on a dirt road.
According to the Facebook post, the owner of the vehicle reported that there was “roughly 100 gallons of diesel fuel” in a fuel tank in the back of the truck.
“Due to the vehicle being engulfed in flames on arrival, the fuel tank was compromised and venting off fumes that were also igniting,” wrote the Mattapoisett Fire Department in the Facebook post.
The Mattapoisett Fire Department has not responded to requests for comment on the cause of the fire.
The Fire Department was able to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby wooded area.
“The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection was requested and responded to ensure there was no impact from the fire to the surrounding area,” wrote the Mattapoisett Fire Department in the post.
