Rochester Police arrest two New Bedford residents on larceny charges
Rochester Police responded to a suspicious motor vehicle call on Braley Hill Road on Tuesday, May 1 leading to the arrest of two New Bedford residents, according to police reports.
Officer Donald Kemmett arrived on the scene after 2:50 p.m., and found two men in the backyard of a home. The men had a rented boxed truck that was stuck in the home’s septic system.
The men told the officer that they were turning the truck around when it got stuck, according to police reports.
After investigating the vehicle, officers found metal automobile parts stolen from shreds on the property. Police also discovered that the home was broken into, and found household items in the truck, according to reports. Officers also found scrap metal believed to have been stolen from other locations.
New Bedford residents Scott M. Sylvia, 46, and Peter J. Farland, 52, were arrested for trespass with a motor vehicle, destruction of property over $250, larceny of property over $250, receiving stolen property over $250, use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony and four counts of breaking and entering.
Both suspects have lengthy criminal records, which date back to the 1980s, according to police reports.
The suspects are being held at the Rochester Police Station on $1,000 cash bail.
