This story will be updated as more water tests are completed at Mattapoisett beaches.

MATTAPOISETT — According to the Town of Mattapoisett, a water test taken on Monday, July 17 has shown “an exceedingly high bacterial count” at Mattapoisett’s Public Town Beach on Water Street, and a private beach at Point Connett.

Both beaches are closed to swimming until further notice, said the town. 

The town will conduct tests at all Mattapoisett beaches on a daily basis “until the present conditions are resolved.”
