Old Colony welcomes special services coordinator
ROCHESTER — Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School welcomed Krista Sylvain as its new Special Services Coordinator at a school committee meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
Sylvain, who lives in Westport, is a graduate of Bridgewater State University from which she earned three degrees including a master’s degree in special education and another master’s degree in educational leadership.
“I’m very excited to be here and to see familiar faces and meet new faces,” she said.
Before coming to Old Colony, Sylvain was the assistant director of special education in the Mansfield Public School District for the past five years. She was also in the classroom as a special education teacher for about 10 years, she said.
According to Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School Superintendent Aaron Polansky, Sylvain was chosen for the role after several rounds of interviews with a panel and a group of staff. He added that the interview process also included a site-visit to see Sylvain “in action” in Mansfield.
“We are very pleased to welcome her,” he said.
