Car a ‘total loss’ after fire, driver escapes

The car was a “total loss,” said the fire department.

MATTAPOISETT — The stillness of a winter night on Tuesday, Jan. 16 was interrupted as a car was engulfed in flames while travelling westbound on Route 195 in Mattapoisett.
According to the Mattapoisett Fire Department, “the sole occupant was able to exit the vehicle safely, but the vehicle is a total loss.”
Mattapoisett fire and police departments responded to the scene along with Massachusetts State Police.
The cause of Tuesday night’s fire is unknown at this time. The Mattapoisett Fire Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
