Mattapoisett Council on Aging Director announces retirement after almost 14 years
MATTAPOISETT — After over a decade of serving the community of Mattapoisett, Council on Aging Director Jacqueline Seney announced her retirement from the position starting in June.
“This has probably been the best job anybody could ask for,” said Council on Aging Director Jacqueline Seney when reflecting on her incoming retirement.
Seney’s resignation as Mattapoisett’s Council on Aging Director was finalized Tuesday, Feb. 11 at the town Select Board meeting, marking Monday, June 30 as her final day.
Starting the position in October 2011, Seney worked with the department for almost 14 years.
“I absolutely loved it,” said Seney.
She fondly remembers the people she worked with when thinking about her time as director.
“Working with and for the very best people, it is a privilege to serve this community and the people that I work with and work here at the COA,” said Seney. “The drivers, all the staff, the volunteers, the vendors who do the classes. It is such an amazing team of people who care about other people.”
In her retirement, she intends to tread new paths and explore other career opportunities.
“I’ve always wanted to pursue other avenues and explore what I can do, and I’m still at that point where I’m young enough to do that, have the energy to do it,” said Seney. “I feel that the council is in a good position right now for me to hand the reins over to somebody.”
Council on Aging board member Lauren Rosa thanked Seney for her work at the Select Board meeting.
“I just wanted to thank Jackie for all her work that she’s done at the Council on Aging,” said Rosa. “It’s been a pleasure working with her at the board and being a participant at the Council on Aging.”
