MATTAPOISETT — Town Wharf General Store stepped into the spotlight on Friday, April 4 when indie film “The Weekend on Cape Cod When Everything Changed” shot on location at the shop.

In the quaint Mattapoisett morning, bustling film crews blocked off portions of Water Street to set up camera rigs and sound equipment.

Directed by Lauren Noll and written by Dalia Rooni, the film is described as a “multicultural romcom” starring Joey Lauren Adams (“Chasing Amy”), Kevin Nealon (“Weeds”), Medalion Rahimi (“NCIS: Los Angeles”) and Logan Miller (“Escape Room”), according to information from the movie’s official Instagram and Deadline.

Claire Barry, shop worker and niece of general store owners Chris Demakis and husband Vince, says it feels right that Mattapoisett is featured in the film.

“It’s a fun little spot! I’m happy that they picked it and Mattapoisett is getting the recognition it deserves,” said Barry.

The "unusual goods and organic coffee” shop opened under Demakis’s guidance in 2013.

“They’ve put so much love into this store,” said Barry. “It’s just something that’s grown and become so loved so it’s getting the recognition it deserves.”
