Grammy Award-winning conductor to lead Buzzards Bay Musicfest
MARION — Internationally acclaimed conductor JoAnn Falletta will serve as the Buzzards Bay Musicfest guest conductor for this year’s festival, taking place from Wednesday, July 9 to Sunday, July 13.
Falletta has received multiple Grammy Awards and became the first woman to lead a major American Orchestra when she started her current role as Music Director of the Buffalo Philharmonic, in addition to serving as the Music Director Laureate of the Virginia Symphony, Principal Guest Conductor of the Brevard Music Center and Conductor Laureate of the Hawaii Symphony.
This year’s festival will feature five performances from a full orchestra, a 9-piece swing band, a string quartet, wind quintet, harp and more, all taking place at Tabor Academy’s Fireman Performing Arts Center.
Admission is free for all performances and no reservations are required. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. each night of the festival, except on Sunday, July 13 which will feature a 2 p.m. performance.
