Three tri-town swimmers earn a spot in national competition

Three tri-town swimmers earned a spot to swim on the national stage after posting strong performances at the Baystate Games,

The Baystate Games are a statewide, olympic style competition where kids can compete in a variety of events. During the competition held Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mattapoisett’s Charlie and Billy Hall along with Rochester’s Noella Michaud placed top three in their respective events.

The three swimmers compete out of Wareham on the Gleason Family YMCA’s Riptides youth swim team and to qualify for the Baystate Games, they needed to place top 20 in their events at one of two qualifying meets earlier in the month.

At the competition, Charlie Hall, placed first in 50 meter breaststroke, the 100 meter breaststroke and in the 100 meter individual medley for the 10-years-old and under division.

Noella Michaud, from Rochester, placed second in the 200 meter butterfly for the 11 to 12-year-old division.

Billy Hall, from Mattapoisett, placed third in the 200 meter butterfly in the 11 to 12 -year-old division.

This will be Billy Hall’s third appearance at the State Games of America. He swam his first as an 8-year-old in 2022 in Des Moines, Iowa, and his second as a 10-year old in 2024 in San Diego, California.

Top three finishers at the Baystate Games move on to the State Games of America being held the summer of 2026 at Pennsylvania State University.
