After misunderstanding Marion restaurant opens

Only a few days after opening, a new Thai restaurant on Front Street was closed last week due to a lack of proper paperwork.

Selectmen met on Friday to get the business back open.

The restaurant, Cilantro, is located at 374 Front St. in the space that was formerly occupied by the House of Thai.

Town Administrator Paul Dawson said the new owner was unaware of the need for a common victualler’s license. The licenses are required for establishments that serve food.

“There was a misunderstanding,” Dawson said. “The owner is now quite familiar with the rules.”

The Board of Health has inspected the site and found no problems.

“Everything is good to go,” Dawson said. “There are no issues here.”

Selectmen Steve Cushing and Jody Dickerson approved the license and offered their support for the business.

“We wish them the very best,” Dickerson said.
