Anne Sherman Lima, of Mattapoisett

Anne Sherman Lima, 73, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away on August 29, 2011, at the home of her daughter Debra. She was born in New Bedford to the late Russell and Gladys (Heuberger) Sherman on March 26, 1938. She graduated from Fairhaven High School with the class of 1956 and the University of  
Massachusett Amherst in 1960. She later graduated from Bridgewater State with a Masters in Library Science.

Anne was employed as head librarian in the Mattapoisett Public Library and later as a medical librarian for the state of Massachusetts. She was engaged in many organizations in Mattapoisett, president of the Northeast Basket Guild and an accomplished cellist. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox all her life and when young took a picture of Ted Williams at batting practice with her Brownie camera. She was above all a passionate and skilled basket maker and teacher following in the steps of her mother.

She is survived by her daughter Debra and husband David Dine; stepson Ethan Lima and wife Laura Kilgannon; her sister Carole and husband Robert Clifford; grandchildren Andrew, Michael, Jonathan, Bryan, Brandon, and Kaitlyn Dine; great grandchildren Alex, Cayden, Caleb, and Olivia Dine; niece Sarah Whinnem and husband Michael Eaton; and a host of Heuberger cousins.

She was predeceased by her son Merritt "Putt" LaPlante.

Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Mattapoisett Congregational Church followed by burial in Cushing Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, September 2, 2011 from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett.
