MARION — The Marion Art Center will host open auditions for the play “Death by Design on May 11 at 10 a.m. and May 13 at 7 p.m.

The play is about a playwright and his actress wife who go to Cookham for a weekend at an English country manor. A conservative politician, a fiery socialist, a near-sighted ingenue and a zany modern dancer arrive as unexpected guests. When one of the guests is murdered, it is left to an Irish maid with an interest in homicide to solve the crime.

The arts center will cast four men and four women. Auditions will consist of a cold reading from the script. Accomplished and aspiring actors are encouraged to audition.

Participants should expect 2 to 3 rehearsals a week in June, July and August. Rehearsal scheduling is flexible and will take actors’ needs into consideration.

Performances will be August 20, August 23, August 25 and September 1.
