Award-winning author with local ties Krista Russell will read from her novel "Chasing the Nightbird" at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library on Tuesday, July 17th at 2 pm in the meeting room.  The novel, set in 19th century New Bedford, details the adventures and trials of 14-year-old Lucky Valera. Set in the city during the whaling era, this historical novel also weaves in the Underground Railroad.  Krista Russell's novel, her first, was selected for many awards including the Massachusetts Book Award 2012 Must Read.  Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing at the reading. The library is located at 7 Barstow Street.
