ROCHESTER — Another Tri-Town Black Lives Matter march will take place on June 12 at 5 p.m. starting at town hall. Protestors will be marching to the Rochester police station.

The march is in response to the death of George Floyd, a black man from Minneapolis on who died on May 25 after a city police officer kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes. The officer is being tried for second and third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. The three other officers at the scene are being tried with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.

The protest also comes after a June 5 march in Mattapoisett that saw anywhere from 400 to 500 people walk from the town’s Park and Ride lot on North Street to the gazebo at Shipyard Park.
