Driver uninjured in Marion after rollover car crash
MARION — At 4:43 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, Marion Fire Department and Marion Police Department responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on the S-curve near Gifford Corner Road on 682 Mill Street in Marion.
There was a single, female occupant who fell asleep at the wheel, causing the crash.
She proceeded to climb out of the vehicle when the Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services arrived.
“The operator was out of the vehicle and walking around at the scene and refused transport to the hospital,” said Lt. Jeff Habicht of the Marion Police Department.
He said the operator reported she fell asleep after working all night.
“She's not sure after working all night and didn't really know what happened. It appears she hit the curb then yanked the wheel causing the car to overcorrect and roll over,” said Habicht.
The vehicle was recovered and there were no other hazards involved with the accident.
Fire Chief Brian Jackvony said there was a small radiator fluid leak that was mitigated at the site.
