Drop and Drive: Neighbors helping neighbors through a monthly food drive
MATTAPOISETT — Mattapoisett is having monthly food drives to help community members put food on the table.
On the third Thursday of every month from 5-7 p.m., volunteers at Mattapoisett Congregational Church will collect non-perishable food items in the side parking lot.
“Food insecurity can touch any family,” Pastor Michael Frady from the Missions Committee said in a press release. “A job loss, an unexpected expense, rising grocery prices or simply a difficult season can make it hard for a household to keep food on the table.”
Drop and Drive is a way for neighbors to support each other, Frady said, and he wants the food drive to be accessible for everyone. There is no commitment or requirement for those wanting to donate. The food items will be collected and shared with Damien’s Food Pantry in Wareham, distributing food to local individuals and families.
The food drive will be held Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19 and Dec. 17 from 5-7 p.m. at 27 Church St.
