A Fall River man is headed to jail after pleading guilty to charges that he raped a teenager from Rochester.

George Wamboldt will serve seven to eight years in state prison, after pleading guilt to two counts of rape of a child. He apparently met the teen online.

The investigation into Wamboldt began on October 15, 2015, when Rochester Police were contacted about the teenage resident's rape. Police discovered that Wamboldt had an ongoing, sexually-explicit relationship with the girl online. Between April 1, 2015 and October 13, 2015, Wamboldt and the teenager exchanged a number of graphic text messages.

The investigation further revealed that Wamboldt had sexually assaulted the victim twice in Rochester and several occasions in Fall River as well.

Wamboldt was arrested on October 17, 2015, while visiting family in Derry, NH. He was indicted on child rape charges on December 22 of the same year. In Bristol County, the district to which Fall River belongs, Wamboldt's charges remain pending.
