'Family Ties' help fund cancer cure

Apr 15, 2014

Eighteen vendors supported the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life “Family Ties” team on Sunday, April 13 in Marion at a “Spring for the Cure” fair.

The American Cancer Society is dedicated to funding cancer research.

The team held the event for former teammate and friend Christy Resendes, who passed away from brain cancer in 2010.

“Our team is in honor of our many family members and friends touched by cancer,” said member Tara Oliveira. “These are the ‘ties’ that bind our team. There is not one member of the team untouched by this terrible disease.”

All proceeds benefited the American Cancer Society. If you missed the fair but want to give, send donations to: Hair Unlimited c/o Tare Oliveira, P.O. Box 1626, Mattapoisett, MA 02739. Make checks payable to the American Cancer Society.
