There's plenty of winter weather outside, but it's time to think ahead to summer and the Fourth of July fireworks.

While last year’s fundraising fell short of the goal, Marion Fireworks Committee members hope to bring back the display this year. The fireworks are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, July 4.

The Marion Fireworks Committee will again be under the direction of the Marion Recreation Department.

Last year, the committee raised approximately $35,000 of its $50,000 goal. The goal remains the same this year. Adding to the money from last year, the committee has collected an additional $3,000 after sending out a mailing requesting donations.

Approximately $12,000 is still needed.

All costs associated with the fireworks are paid through the fundraising efforts of the Marion Fireworks Committee.

All amounts are welcome. All donations are tax deductible.
