Former Mattapoisett School Committee member appointed to fill vacancy

Aug 24, 2021

MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Select Board and School Committee met jointly on Aug. 24 to choose and appoint a new member to the School Committee, filling a seat vacated by former member Shannon Finning on July 20.

After interviewing four candidates via Zoom, the combined boards voted to appoint Carole Clifford who served on the committee for four years before deciding not to run for reelection in April.

“But I am very willing and would like to continue for one more year with my duties on the school committee,” said Clifford.
The appointment will expire after the next election in May 2022.

In her interview Clifford cited her experience working on the committee as well as her background as a former teacher and professional development director.

“Carole, thank you very much for putting your name in,” said School Committee Member Jim Muse. “You obviously know how much work this is and what it took. Your efforts last year were extraordinary during very difficult times serving on many, many subcommittees.”
