Friends of Mattapoisett Bike Path seek $33,000 through crowdfunding
Friends of Mattapoisett Bike Path have launched a crowdfunding effort to raise $33,000 toward final permitting and design costs for the next phase of the path. If permitting and fundraising stay on schedule, construction can begin in fall or winter 2016. The committee hopes that bicycling enthusiasts everywhere and people in communities around Mattapoisett will support the town in its long effort to complete this project.
The Friends website, where people can find more information on the project, is www.mattapoisettrailtrail.com. The crowdfunding site is www.gofundme.com/Matt-Rail-Trail.
Mattapoisett's bike path is part of a regional bikeway that will make it easier for people to ride between towns and neighborhoods. All donations are tax deductible. To donate by check, send it by mail to Friends of the Mattapoisett Bike Path, P.O. Box 1336, Mattapoisett, MA 02739.
Several local businesses are also supporting the bike path, including First Citizen's Federal Credit Union, which is supporting the design fund by donating $50 for every new First Citizen's checking account that is opened by a bike path supporter.
Fisher and Rocha is offering rewards that benefit supporters and the design fund. Details are available on the rail trial website. Businesses who want to help may also contact Bonne DeSousa at bdesousa43@comcast.net.
