Girls tennis team notches two wins over spring break
Last week marked the end of the fourth week of matches for the Old Rochester Regional High School girls’ tennis team. The team’s record is now 5-2. Over April vacation, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Seekonk on April 22. On April 24 the team hosted Wareham. ORR won both matches 5-0.
At Seekonk, ORR got wins from Julia Nojeim at first singles, Haley Dickerson at second singles, K.K. Bindas at third singles, Morgan Middleton and Triona Cuddy at first doubles, and Rachel Brown and Serena Jaskolka at second doubles.
When hosting Wareham, wind made every shot a guessing game. Predicting the direction a shot was going was difficult. Overcoming this obstacle, ORR racked up wins from the same three singles players and from two newly formed doubles teams. Head coach Robert Hohne paired sophomores Morgan Middleton and Charlotte Levine at first doubles and senior Rachel Brown with freshman Sophie Church at second doubles.
“For the first time we were favored to win these two matches,” Hohne said. He also commented that he was “pleased we didn’t drop our level of performance. We continued to improve.”
