Interim principal of Rochester Memorial School named to permanent capacity

ROCHESTER — The interim principal of Rochester Memorial School has been named the permanent principal.

Heidi Letendre, who has served as the interim principal of the school since the beginning of the academic year, was announced Friday, May 31 as principal in a permanent capacity by the Old Rochester Regional School District.

“It has been a very positive and rewarding experience working with this team of educators and I am honored to be part of this community and look forward to serving as the Rochester Memorial School principal in the years ahead,” Letendre said in an Old Rochester Regional School District press release.

Letendre previously served as principal of John T. Nichols Jr. Middle School in Middleboro for 10 years.

As interim principal at Rochester Memorial School, Letendre implemented a program called “IntoReading," a new literacy program. Letendre also implemented a “Celebrations Committee” to enhance school culture and show appreciation for educators.

Letendre said the main goal is to increase student achievement and provide a positive and safe learning environment, according to the press release.

"As always our focus starts with the student and supporting the whole child,” Letendre said. “I look forward to engaging in this collaborative work in the years ahead."
