Joseph T. Cunning, Jr., 70, of Wareham, formerly of Marion died Feb. 9 at home. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Cox) Cunning and the son of the late Joseph T. and Frances Brady.

He was born in Needham and lived in Marion for many years before moving to Wareham last year. Mr. Cunning graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Newton and the Franklin Institute.

Mr. Cunning owned and Operated J.M. Construction Corporation for many years before retiring. He also worked as a consultant to area businesses and towns for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

He served as a board member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Marion Planning Board. He loved to ski and was active in establishing the Waterville Valley Disabled Skier Program.

Survivors include his widow, Patricia A. (Cox) Cunning; a son, Joseph T. Cunning III of Waltham; four daughters, Mary Morris of Essex Junction, Vermont, Kathryn Collins of Middleboro, Sarah Decas of Mattapoisett and Eileen Cunning of Cataumet; three sisters, Mary Cunning of Vermont, Nancy Grady of Wrentham and Frances Dotoli of Vermont; 13 grandchildren; several nephews and nieces.

His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 13, in the Wickenden Chapel at Tabor Academy, 66 Spring St., Marion.
