Kenneth Smead, 82
Kenneth R. “Bob” Smead, 82, of Wareham passed away on Oct. 28 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Patricia (Mullen) Smead of Wareham.
Mr. Smead was born on May 21, 1933 the son of the late Ralph B. and Mildred (Baker) Smead and raised in Milton. Bob served two years in the U.S. Army, one of which was in Korea during the Korean War. He was then employed by JH Taylor and promoted to supervisor, and later by Trego Inc., also as a supervisor.
Bob was an avid woodworker and was often found in his shed making treasures for loved ones. He also enjoyed sports, politics, and loved to gather with family and friends. He had many quips and sayings, one of which was, “Life is for the living, so live life and be happy.”
Bob was the loving father of: Michael Smead and his wife Diane of Marion, Daniel Smead and his wife Joanne of Dartmouth, Thomas Smead and his wife Elizabeth of Wareham, Neil Smead and his wife Sherrie also of Wareham and the late Patricia Monty of Sandwich. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, the late Robert Allen Smead of Fall River, nine great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews, relatives and dear friends. He was the brother in law of Mary Louise Hayes of Charlestown and brother of the late Shirley Volpe, Helen Martin, and Ralph Smead.
A private service and celebration of his life was held at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
