Local educators inducted into international society

Oct 8, 2019

Four local educators were recently inducted into the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an honor society for women. There are more than 90,000 members worldwide, who have been chosen for their excellence in an academic field.

Stephanie Cyr, a fourth grade teacher at Rochester Memorial, Holly Hargraves of Mattapoisett, principal of the Laliberte Elementary school in the Bridgewater-Raynham District, Nicole Daniel of Marion, a Kindergarten teacher at the Quinn School in Dartmouth, and Elizabeth Haskell of Mattapoisett, a preschool teacher at the Loft School in Marion were all inducted into the Alpha Lambda Chapter. The chapter covers coastal towns from Plymouth, to the tri-town area.

The Chapter meets four times a year and has a “Reach out and Read” project that collects books to be placed in pediatricians’ offices, and given to young children in hopes of encouraging parents to read to them. In addition to chapter meetings there are state, regional, and international meetings that offer workshops for members to attend, as well as opportunities to give workshops. Many scholarships are available to members, as well as seminars to develop leadership skills.
