MARION — The Marion Art Center hosted local playwright and Tabor Academy teacher John Heavey for a showing of his play “LZ Bravo: A Vietnam Tour of Duty” on May 13 at the Island Wharf Bandstand.

The play was part of the Art Center’s second weekend of SouthCoast Spring Arts programming.

The play is a collection of accounts from the Vietnam War, performed by actors, and framed by a narrator.

Attendees sat in lawn chairs in front of the bandstand, and Marion Art Center Executive Director Jodi Stevens said many of the entry tickets were sold at the door.

“They did a great job, and it was perfect weather,” she said.
