Marion election features four contested races
The deadline to submit election papers has passed, and there are four contested races for Marion’s annual Town Election on May 15.
Dale Jones is challenging incumbent and Recreation Department Director Jody Dickerson in the Selectmen race. For the past two years, Jones has unsuccessfully campaigned for a seat on the board.
Dickerson said he's running in part to see that ongoing projects are completed.
"We've done a lot the last few years regarding the finances of the town," Dickerson said. "I want to continue that work."
Earlier this month, longtime Town Moderator David Titus announced he would not seek re-election. Former Planning Board member Patricia McArdle and Matthew Nowick are running for the position.
Four people submitted papers for two seats on the Planning Board.
Incumbents Stephen Gonsalves and Chair Stephen Kokkins face challengers Jennifer Francis and Todd Richins. Francis has served on the town’s Energy Management Committee for the past few years.
In the race for School Committee, members Jay Pateakos and Joseph Scott announced they would not seek re-election. Hoping to fill those seats are Jessica Harris, David MacDonald and Michelle Ouellette. A former School Committee member, Ouellette lost her seat last year by a handful of votes.
