Marion Music Hall renovations move forward
Renovations to the Marion Music Hall are moving along on schedule.
On Tuesday, Town Administrator Paul Dawson informed the Selectmen that the exterior work on the building is now complete, except for cement pouring in the walkways. Dawson said the walkways would be finished soon, if weather permits.
Repairs to the circuit system inside of the building are also well underway.
“Right now, we’re waiting for the delivery of the fixtures,” Dawson said. “We expect the fixtures sometime in mid-February.”
The repairs to the building were given the go ahead by the Selectmen in the fall after residents voiced concern over the lack of proper lighting outside of the building.
The Music Hall Advisory Committee requested the Selectmen approve $77,700 to be taken from the Music Hall Endowment Fund to pay for the repairs citing safety concerns.
In November, Brite Lite Electrical Company of Weymouth installed new lighting outside of the building including on the flagpole.
Additional landscaping work will begin in the spring. In the fall, the winds of Hurricane Sandy knocked down one of the trees outside of the building as well as causing some other damage to the landscape.
Of the renovations, Dawson said, “They’ve made a lot of progress.”
