Marion Selectman Cushing won't run for fourth term

Feb 8, 2017

Selectman Steve Cushing will not run for reelection, he announced on Tuesday.

Cushing has served nine years on the board, a total of three terms, and said the decision not to run again was a tough one.

“I don’t think I ever missed a regularly scheduled Selectmen meeting,” he said.

Cushing noted that he began working in the Department of Public Works and has served on a number of boards, including the Zoning Board.

“I certainly didn’t do any of this for recognition,” said Cushing. “My rewards was just being able to help.”

Cushing’s fellow Selectmen praised him and thanked him for his service to the town.

“I have the utmost respect for you,” said Chair Jody Dickerson.
