MARION — The Marion Department of Public Works will seal cracks on the following roadways on Wednesday, July 30 and Thursday, July 31:

• River Road
• Green Street
• Oak Street
• Hill Street
• Cove’s End Road
• Parkway Lane
• Sarah Sherman Lane
• Oakdale Avenue (Hermitage Road to House No. 59)
• Wells Road (Route 6 to Spring Street)

Work will not begin before 7 a.m. and is scheduled to finish before dusk. Completion of all work is subject to change due to possible weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

Motorists can expect delays in construction areas and “should plan alternate routes,” according to the department of public works.

A “crack seal” is defined by the department as a “minimally disruptive, preventative maintenance surface treatment designed to prevent accelerated deterioration of a street.” The seal will consist of asphalt cement and reinforcing fibers that will go in and over the cracks in the pavement.
