Discussion on whole grains

As part of the lunch and speaker series, registered dietitian Stephanie Boulay will discuss why whole grains are important and tips on how to increase one's daily intake. A sandwich lunch will be provided. The event is Tuesday, July 14 at noon at the COA, 17 Barstow St. The cost for lunch is $3, but seeing the speaker is free.

Lunch at Cibo Matto Cafe

On Thursday, July 16, the COA will lunch at Cibo Matto Cafe in Mansfield. This restaurant has been recommended by the Phantom Gourmet.

The group will leave from the Mattapoisett Park and Ride at 11:10 a.m. The cost for the van is $8 and lunch will be paid individually.

Ancient Greece and Rome

Art historian Jill Sanford of Art for Your Mind, LLC will provide an overview of Greece's ancient pottery, sculpture and architecture and its impression of the religion, lifestyles and artistic achievements of Ancient Greece.

The event will be at the COA, 17 Barstow St., on Tuesday, July 21 at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $3 and light refreshments will be served.

Lunch at Four Corners Grille, Grey's Ice Cream

The COA will take a trip to Four Corners Grille followed by dessert at Grey's Ice Cream in Tiverton, Rhode Island on Thursday, July 23. The van will leave from the Mattapoisett Park and Ride at 11:15 a.m. The cost for the van ride is $6 and lunch will be paid individually.

Pizza and a movie

The COA will show "McFarland USA" on Tuesday, July 28 at noon. Pizza will also be served for $2. The movie is free.

Derby Street Shoppes trip

A shopping trip is scheduled on Thursday, July 30 to go to Derby Street Shoppes in Hingham. The van will leave from the Mattapoisett Park and Ride at 9 a.m. The cost for the van ride is $7.

Lunch in Swansea

A trip to the Aviary Restaurant in Swansea is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6. Meet at the Mattapoisett Park and Ride at 11:20 a.m. Lunch is on your own. The van costs $6.

'High Fructose Corn Syrup and Sweeteners'

The lunch and speaker series continues with "High Fructose Corn Syrup and Sweeteners" at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 11. The speaker is free; lunch is $3.

Tennis Hall of Fame, lunch

On Thursday, Aug. 13, there will be a trip to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, in Newport, Rhode Island followed by lunch at LaForge Casino. The van will leave from the Mattapoisett Park and Ride at 9:10 a.m. The van is $8, admission to the hall of fame is $12 and lunch is on your own.

JFK Library and Museum

A van will leave from the Mattapoisett Park and Ride on Friday, Aug. 14 at 8 a.m for the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum, Boston. The cost of the van is $10 and admission to the museum is free for Fun Friday.

Lunch at Cav Restaurant

On Thursday, Aug. 20, there will be a lunch trip to Cav Restaurant in Providence. The van will leave from the Mattapoisett Park and Ride at 11:10 a.m. Lunch is on your own and the van cost is $8.

Pizza and a movie

The COA will have a viewing of "Woman in Gold" on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at noon. The movie is free. Pizza is $2.

Lunch at The Galley Grille

The COA is organizing a lunch trip to The Galley Grille in Westport. Leave from the Mattapoisett Park and Ride at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27. The cost for the van is $6. Lunch is paid individually.
