Mattapoisett Free Library launches summer events for kids
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Free Public Library is launching its upcoming summer programs featuring storytime, play groups and a book club.
According to the library’s Head Children’s Librarian and Assistant Director Kevin Thompson, the children’s department is on track to reopen on Tuesday, June 2 after replacing its floors. According to Thompson, the floor replacement is currently in its final stages.
After the department reopens, the Kids’ Graphic Novel Book Club will meet for the last time until the fall on Friday, June 5 at 3:30 p.m. Participants are reading “The Cartoonists Club,” a graphic novel about creativity and self-expression by authors Raina Telgemeier and Scott McCloud. The library has copies available near the upstairs media lab.
The library will also host two summer storytime sessions with a family storytime at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18 and baby storytime at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 19.
Aside from storytimes and a book club, the library is also preparing its 2026 summer reading program. According to Thompson, plans are currently being finalized for the program, which is expected to start on Tuesday, June 23.
