Junior Friends' Recycle to Support the Library

Bring your redeemable cans and bottles to the Mattapoisett Library on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 to 10 a.m. The Junior Friends will accept items as part of their effort to raise funds to help the library. Each month the group will announce a recycling day, so save those cans and bottles for the library.

Cookbook Authors to Speak at the Library

Mother and daughter team Elaine Tammi and Karin Tammi have recently published the illustrated cookbook, "Scallops." They will be speaking to the library's Cooks and Books group on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. Copies of the holiday gift-quality cookbook will be available for purchase and signing.

Photographs on Display

The photographs of Sandy Thomas are now on display in the reading rooms of the library. Her mother, Carolyn Thomas, has artistically designed frames that enhance each photograph, all New England scenes. The display will run through the end of October.

Letterboxing Sleuthing

This fascinating activity for the whole family will take you to all corners of the library to solve a mystery while following literary clues from children's books. Each month the book changes, so visit the library and join the fun. Details are available in the children's department.

The Friends of the Mattapoisett Library Cookbook

Orders may now be placed for "Cooking with Friends," which includes literary quotes as well as recipes from local chefs and cookbook authors. The books are $10 and will be available in November, in time for the holidays. Order forms are available at the circulation desks.

Deconstructing Cravings

Learn more about how to dodge the less-than-healthy choices with Health and Life Coach Johanna Voss. A free workshop will be held Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.

Chess Club and Lego Club

Each week these fun groups for children meet downstairs in the library. All ages are welcome to build with Legos on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. The Chess Club meets each Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. for children ages 5 and older.
